Kingsport City Schools Announces "KPD Appreciation Day"

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – November 1, 2021 marks the sixth year that Kingsport City Schools (KCS) has officially celebrated its partnership with the Kingsport Police Department (KPD), coined as "KPD Appreciation Day." Members of the KPD, School Resource Officers (SROs), and KPD K-9 Units are honored for their ongoing service to the students and staff of Kingsport City Schools.
"I am grateful for the relationship I have with Chief Dale Phipps and the entire Kingsport Police Department,” said KCS Superintendent Dr. Jeff Moorhouse. “The support they give to our schools in the form of School Resource Officers and coverage at our school events is immeasurable. It is a blessing to work alongside these men and women in the service of our community."
Full-time KCS SROs include: SRO Nathan Russell (Dobyns-Bennett High School); SRO Mark Smelser (Dobyns-Bennett High School); and SRO Mike Campbell (Sevier Middle School). 
Part-time KCS SROs for remaining schools include: SRO Joe Earles, SRO Rick Marshall, SRO David Moore, and SRO Joe Valentine.
